Online Abacus Course in English

We have been offering Online Soroban (japanese abacus) courses since March 2020. Our motto is: The children should have more fun and learn even better!

Technological development gives us great options so that the children can learn with even more joy.

We use various digital techniques and tools that were unimaginable just a few years ago. We developed some of them especially for our online Soroban lessons.

The learning effect is far better than we initially thought. Kids quickly got used to it and enjoyed it. They even say: “I really like online lessons! Better than in the classroom … ”

Course Details

Lesson days and period

Twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays, 30 minutes each.

The lessons consist of a combination of two types of lessons, each serving different purposes:

  1. “INPUT” for Soroban arithmetic and practicing Anzan (mental arithmetic)
  2. “OUTPUT” on Soroban and practicing / learning Anzan (arithmetic)

“INPUT” is for understanding. That means learning new things, consolidating the basis or repeating complex content.

“OUTPUT” is used for practical practice with the aim of strengthening arithmetic skills and other skills.

preparation

Classes are offered through an online conference service, Zoom.

The participants need:

  • PC / Mac or tablet / iPad for zoom
  • additionally tablet / iPad or smartphone for virtual Soroban
  • a stable internet connection
  • Soroban himself (physical)
  • Calm environment

Holidays and public holidays (German holidays)

There are no classes on the following days:

Holidays: May 1st, May 21st, June 1st and 11th and 03.10.

Summer vacation: from 20.07 to 22.08.

Autumn holidays: from 12.10. until October 24th

Christmas holidays: from December 21 to December 31

In the event of a disaster, any claim to a reimbursement for the loss of lessons ceases to apply.

Admission fee   €100, –

Lesson period  25 minutes (twice a week)

Course fee € 68 per month

(Participation for 36 weeks a year. The installment is paid monthly, even if there are no regular classes this month.)

Learning material costs and other costs: €25,-  for a half year

FAQ

Can I get a replacement lesson if I can’t attend a lesson?

If you are absent, please let us know in advance by email. Your child can only take the “OUTPUT” class as a substitute.
